Getting Started
What is OJMove?
OJMove brings five things together: a Marketplace to buy & sell items, Services to get tasks done, HandyMan to hire tradespeople, Jobs to find employment, and Talent to get discovered by employers. See How OJMove works for a quick tour.
Do I need an account?
You can browse freely. To make an offer, message a seller, post a listing, apply to jobs, or create a talent profile you'll need a free account.
How do I set my location?
Use the location selector in the top navigation. Listings are sorted nearest-first, and you can filter by area or search a specific city on each browse page.
Buying & Offers
How do offers work?
On an item you can propose a price with Make an offer. The seller can accept, decline, or counter, and you can counter back โ every step also appears in your chat with the seller so nothing gets lost.
I already made an offer โ how do I keep talking to the seller?
Open the item again (or your chat) and use Continue conversation โ it takes you straight back into the same thread with the seller, where your offer and any counters are recorded. There's no need to send a brand-new offer.
Can I change my offer?
Yes. While your offer is still pending you can send a new amount and it replaces the old one. If the seller has countered, respond with an accept or a counter instead.
How do I pay safely?
Use in-app escrow where available: your payment is held until you confirm you've received the item, then released to the seller. For in-person deals, inspect the item and pay only when it's in your hands.
Selling
How do I sell an item?
Tap Post Item, add clear photos, a title, price, condition and your location, then publish. Good photos and an honest description sell faster.
How do I handle offers I receive?
Offers appear on your listing and in chat. You can accept, decline, or counter. Once you accept, arrange pickup or delivery with the buyer in chat.
What are the fees?
Browsing, buying and selling are free. Optional services (escrow, delivery, promotion, business features) show any fee before you commit.
Services & HandyMan
What's the difference between Services and HandyMan?
Services is for a specific task: you post what you need done (e.g. โfix a leaking pipeโ) with a budget, and providers send you bids to compare. HandyMan is a directory of skilled pros (plumbers, electricians, carpenters and more) that you browse and contact directly โ no bidding, just reach out.
How do I post a task on Services?
Go to Services and tap Post a Task. Describe the job, add your location and a budget range, and wait for providers to bid.
How do I list myself as a HandyMan?
From your dashboard choose Post your service. Add your trade/category, rate, location and a description so customers can find and contact you.
How do I choose a provider?
Compare bids (Services) or profiles (HandyMan), check ratings and reviews, and chat in-app to agree the details before any work starts.
Jobs & Talent
What's the difference between Jobs and Talent?
Jobs is where companies post roles and you apply directly. Talent is the reverse: you create a professional profile and companies discover and contact you. Job-seekers often use both.
How do I apply to a job?
Open a listing on Jobs and apply directly โ often with one click. Only registered companies can post jobs, so listings come from real employers.
How do I create a talent profile?
Go to your talent profile and add your headline, skills, experience, salary expectations and CV. Make it visible to companies to be discovered.
Who can see my professional photo?
Your talent profile โ including any professional photo you upload โ is only visible to verified companies browsing the talent directory. Regular users cannot see your talent profile details.
How does a company contact me?
Companies message you in-app through the hiring context. You'll get a notification and can reply from your chat.
Payments & Safety
How does escrow work?
The buyer pays into escrow, the seller ships or hands over the item, and once the buyer confirms, funds are released to the seller (minus any platform fee). It protects both sides.
How do I stay safe meeting in person?
Meet in a busy public place in daylight โ a mall, bank, or near a police station. Inspect the item fully and confirm it works before you pay. Never pay in advance for something you haven't received.
Someone is behaving suspiciously โ what do I do?
Use the Report button on the listing, profile, or message, and keep all chat in-app so there's a record. You can also block the user from the chat. See also Staying safe below.
Are the prices and deals guaranteed?
Deals are agreed directly between buyers and sellers. Be wary of prices that seem too good to be true or anyone rushing you to pay outside the app.
Verification & Trust
How do I get verified?
Go to your account and complete verification (ID/selfie, and optionally your NIN). A verified badge builds trust with buyers and sellers.
What do the badges mean?
A Verified badge means the person or company completed identity checks. A Trusted badge reflects a strong track record on OJMove. Companies posting jobs are reviewed before approval.
Why might I be asked to verify before an action?
Some actions (like making an offer or transacting) may require a verified phone or address. This keeps the marketplace safer for everyone and reduces spam.
Account & Privacy
How do I delete my account or get my data?
From your account settings you can export your data or delete your account (right to erasure), in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act. See our Privacy Policy.
Who can see my contact details?
Your phone and address are gated: they're shared only where needed for a transaction or hiring, not shown publicly on your listings by default.
How do I change my notification preferences?
Open your account settings to manage email, push and in-app notifications for messages, offers and updates.
